She previously attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology. While at Emerson and Marquette, Valerie's education primarily focused on pediatric communication disorders. She has clinical experience in early intervention, early childhood programs, non-public schools, and various social groups for children on the autism spectrum. After some field work, time with the AmeriCorps, and continuous work with children in the Bay area, LaTisha decided it was time to go back to school to pursue her true passions: communication and working with children. A recent graduate of California State University, East Bay with her Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, LaTisha tested various settings with her degree, including the hospitals, school districts, and other private therapy work. But something kept bringing her back to the part-time work at the organization which gave her first, REAL experience with pediatrics in 2003--Happy Talkers. For LaTisha, Happy Talkers continued to set themselves apart from the rest as more than a company, more than a group of employees, and more than children coming in and out of a place for speech therapy. It's no wonder LaTisha kept coming back summer after summer from location to location to experience not only individual speech-language therapy, but to welcome her new role this year at the School of Imagination as Speech-Language Pathologist. |
