Ann values the child-therapist relationship and the communication with the family and how important they both are in achieving meaningful results.

Her favorite activities include walking (especially city neighborhoods and small towns), playing golf, watching movies, cooking, spending time with her fiancé, friends, and enjoying her two children, Brandon (22) and Ashley (20), whenever possible. Cheryl first came to Happy Talkers as one of our parents in 2004. Her son, Cavanaugh (5), has a developmental disability and received speech therapy services from Happy Talkers and attended School of Imagination since the age of two. Because of her experience raising a child with a disability, Cheryl is dedicated to helping other parents find the resources and support they need.

In addition to her work with our program, Cheryl volunteers for the CARE Parent Network as a guest speaker and
facilitator of a mothers support group and has been involved with Contra Costa County First 5, WestEd’s Early Start
Family Resources and Supports Institute and currently serves as the Chairman of the Parent Support Network Committee for the School of Imagination.

In her previous life, before motherhood, Cheryl worked in television production. She is an avid digital photographer and produced our short film "A Future for Every Child: Building a Home for School of Imagination".

LaTisha Rodriguez, M.S. CF-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist

Email: latisha@happytalkers.com
Telephone: 925-829-9555 x 715
LaTisha received her undergraduate degree from University of California, Santa Barbara with a double major in cultural anthropology and linguistics. After some field work, time with the AmeriCorps, and continuous work with children in the Bay area, LaTisha decided it was time to go back to school to pursue her true passions: communication and working with children.

A recent graduate of California State University, East Bay with her Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, LaTisha tested various settings with her degree, including the hospitals, school districts, and other private therapy work. But something kept bringing her back to the part-time work at the organization which gave her first, REAL experience with pediatrics in 2003--Happy Talkers. For LaTisha, Happy Talkers continued to set themselves apart from the rest as more than a company, more than a group of employees, and more than children coming in and out of a place for speech therapy. It's no wonder LaTisha kept coming back summer after summer from location to location to experience not only individual speech-language therapy, but to welcome her new role this year at the School of Imagination as Speech-Language Pathologist.
